DXSN 11??

Will we go again?

The proposal – Melbourne Cup madness!!

STAGE 1 – PRE-CUP CALCUTTA

Traditionally, some old-school DXSN people hit-up the Rising Sun Hotel in South Melbourne for their annual pre-Melbourne Cup Calcutta.

What’s a calcutta?

A calcutta has two stages – the ticket draw (like a raffle), and then an auction

THE TICKET DRAW
Go in the raffle, if your ticket is drawn, you ‘own’ half that horse ahead of the auction stage! All proceeds from the ticket draw go into the prize pool.

THE AUCTION
Now we bid for every horse.
50 per cent of the sale price goes to the person who drew that horse in the ticket draw; and the remaining 50 per cent goes into the ever-growing prize pool. So if we draw a horse we are bidding half of the auctioned price!!
The highest bidder in the auction stage becomes the full owner of that horse.

We’re coming in hot – DXSN just took down the locals winning the Flinton Cup Calcutta in Western Queensland!!

Lessons learned:
1) Go hard in the raffle
2) Keep Jess on a very short leash during the auction…

STAGE 2 – SPICY CUP TIME

Let’s get interactive!!

We’ve all seen those tales of $400k First 4s and massive trifectas in the Cup.

Let’s get some!!

The bigger the pool the more combos we get.
I’m thinking a combination of everyone’s tips and outsiders and permutations aplenty…
